Here an interesting find; A trade magazine advertisement for RCA-866-A tubes printed in a 1956 edition of "Broadcasting Magazine". Through the 1960's the vacuum tube was a vital part of most audio transmitting and receiving equipment. The rectifier tubes advertised here were used in the transmitter of WISL and according to WISL's Chief Engineer Ray Willard were very dependable. In this advertisement, RCA touts their tube's dependability with this testimonial quote from Willard... "I thought you might be interested in the report of two RCA -866A mercury -vapor rectifiers we have been operating...

When WISL Radio signed on the air for the first time in January of 1948 it was truly a "state of the art facility." The second floor of the Lark Building, a former bank, on Sunbury Street, was completely remodeled into a modern radio studio complete with a main control studio, news booth and a performance studio, in addition to administrative office. The walls were covered with acoustical tiles and the floor was finished with cork. This clean, new space was certainly a sight to behold.
